Lost Cultural Heritage

우리글 한글 (Our Language, Hangul)

Spring 2016

Illustrated language as a material and immaterial heritage subject to loss, change, and malleability. The laser-cut wooden letters were glued together and hung on a tree to highlight the interaction between the environment and the shadows cast by the sculpture. The seemingly transient yet enduring nature of shadows underscores how the language, with its complicated modern history, has gone through the test of time.

Laser cut, Masonite wood
*Themes: Lost cultural heritage, Sense of time (relationship between past and present), Transience of shadows,  Interaction between environment and shadows cast by the object.
